Accident Solicitors No Win No Fee Derby

Derby is the administrative City of Derbyshire in central England, built on the banks of the River Derwent with a population of about 250,000.

Initially a market town, Derby grew rapidly in the industrial era but has history as a Roman and Anglo Saxon Settlement. It was part of the Danelaw. The Industrial Revolution resulted in early forms of factory introduced for the first time in the country at Loomes Mill and the City had an exceptional artist son to record the changes being visited on society in the person of Joseph  Wright of Derby. With the arrival of the railways in the 19th century, the city became a centre of the railways. Derby is internationally renowned centre for engineering excellence in the form Rolls Royce and Toyota has a OK production nearby. The City is also home to exquisite bone china manufacturer Royal Crown Derby and more recently to cartoon heroine Lara Croft.

Derbyshire is memorable for the dramatic landscape of the Peak District and the rugged terrain, with a bracing atmosphere, was unforgettably encapsulated by Emily Bronte in Wuthering Heights. Charles Darwin may not have lived here, but his father Erasmus did visit occasionally having founded the Derbyshire Philosophical Society. Aside from Euclid, possibly the only person famed for a line was MP for Derby, Plimsoll.

Sport is well provided for in the City, with the Rams (Derby County) having a history including Division 1 champions and were famously managed to dizzy heights by Brian Clough. The team played at the Baseball Ground, one of the most evocative names in British football now demolished and the current Stadium is named Pride Park. The City also hosts first division County Cricket with past players including Sir Richard Hadlee.

In the Arts, Derby is most notable as the place in which John Osborne decided to write his play, “Look Back in Anger”. Noted thespian Alan Bates is from Derby, while the City remains renowned for its large amount of real ale pubs in which to extemporize or drown your sorrows.
