Accident Solicitors Newcastle No Win No Fee

Newcastle upon Tyne is a City in the North East best known for Football, Jimmy Nale and Newcastle Brown. Nicknamed, “The Toon” it is a lively place with a strength of character and identity hardly rivalled elsewhere.  Built on the northern bank of the Tyne it has an Iconic single spanned bridge a language structure called Geordie all its own.

The city developed around a Roman settlement and is close to Hadrian`s Wall ( Wallsend is a large area of housing today and home of a famous amateur football team producing players like Shearer, Gascoigne and Waddell but gets her name from a castle built by the Normans. The city  was amongst the world's largest ship building centres and the phrase,”taking coals to Newcastle” has nothing to do with the footballer Andy that played for the Magpies but to King Coal, a major industry nearby until late last century. Today the City has a cleaner image as the home of the Great North Run, athletics at Gateshead and an elite University.

It may be a bit of a fudge to claim Lindisfarne within the City, but the Island is the ancestral and spiritual home of the church in England and arguably home to one of the greatest brains of Western Civilisation, Bede.

Culture can be found in abundance in the City, with a gallery like the Baltic and the Sage Gateshead being a regular venue for symphony orchestras. In truth live entertainment for most is still first and foremost found at St James`s Park, where Jackie Milburn and the Charltons watched; Sir Bobby Robson has a well-earned bronze statue outside the stadium and the fans attend in their tens of thousands no matter how the team performs.

The population is about 280,000 and a male Geordie can expect to live 14 years less than the average for the UK. The Toon is an uncompromising place as portrayed in 1971 classic Get Carter but increasingly is morphing into a part capital of a new generation that surely hope to enjoy life.
