Accident Solicitors Plymouth No Win No Fee

Plymouth is a City of almost 275,000 people on the South coast of Devon, lying on the mouth of the river Plym.  It is an ancient city with evidence of settlements dating back to the Bronze Age on a peninsula in Plymouth Sound. It grew as a small fishing port to become a prosperous Roman trading station and port, due to its natural harbour. This growth continued further because of its easy access to the Atlantic. In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers left from Plymouth to what is now America, to found one of the first colonies. During Tudor times it became famous for Sir Francis Drake and his bowls playing proclivities.

Throughout the industrial revolution Plymouth grew as an industrial and naval base being the home port of many of the Royal Navy’s ships. This strategic importance led to it being bombed during the Second World War in what came to be known as ‘The Plymouth Blitz’.

Notable Plymothians, apart from Sir Francis, are Michael Foot, the politician, Beryl Cook the humorous seaside cartoon artist and Tom Daley the Olympic Diver.
