Accident Solicitors Preston‏ No Win No Fee

Preston is sited on  the banks of the Ribble, obtaining city status in  2002, England's 50th city in the 50th year of the Queens  reign. Preston has a population of 114,000, with a commute to  Work area of 420,000.

The City was established by the Angles; meaning "priest's settlement" and is the locality of Historic Houses such as Hoghton Tower and Salmesbury Hall. Textiles have been produced since the mid-13th century when locally produced wool was woven on looms in a cottage industry and the City Crest features a lamb. Known as “Proud Preston”, famous sons include  Sir Richard Arkwright inventor of the Spinning Jenny (a portait of whom was acquired recently by the National Portrait Gallery by Joseph Wright of Derby)  and Cricket superstar Freddie Flintoff, inventor of the pedaloe scandal ( many photographic portraits of whom were taken near to the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square following the 2005 Ashes victory parade) and legendary footballer Tom Finney.

Gerard Manley Hopkins, well-known Victorian poet of works such as “The Windhover”, was curate at St Ignatius Church in Preston during the 1880’s. A Jesuit Priest, Hopkins created language he called “inscape” with a freedom no always reflected in the religious differences that have riven local people in the past. Salmesbury Hall tells of “Witch” hunts that may have been stirred by Catholics against Protestants while many local Lancashire stately homes contain Priest holes as places of refuge from persecution. In every sense ”Proud Preston” has been a “priest`s settlement”, though another famous face that formed his style of football in the town, Bill Shankley, took the broader view, "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

Preston is the home to the main campus of the UCL and has a multi cultural community.
